Dharamsala in himachal pradesh
Kingfisher being the only airline in and out - there was no other choice.
Recommend : take a day pack and all essentials with you.
You may well ask why I have made that note but as we discovered luggage and traveller do not always go together but arrive on separate days without notification.
As we waited patiently for our luggage to come and so did many others we suddenly found ourselves in a cue waiting to fill out lost bag paperwork. We were assured that it would be delivered safely tomorrow. However we wanted some blood money and with enough jumping up and down we each received a compensation that gave us some retail therapy in dharamsala and eased away the anxiety attached to lost luggage.
Dharamsala is like coming home. A certain familiar comfort. The green hills surrounded by the back drop of the himalayas encased in low cloud greet us as we make our way up the slow, narrow winding road filled with wash outs and pot holes. The orange robes are a reminder that we have entered the well known mini llasha of Tibet. Many of the residents have arrived in excile from Tibet as they flee the Chinese oppression. The most well known being his holiness the dalai lama and his holiness the karmapa.
Our charity maggies dreamcatcher has bought us to this part of the world and on this journey we have bought along some guests to visit the area with us. We have chosen to stay at Chonor house which is a guest house with only 11 rooms. Very basic but clean and a long history of famous guests such as Richard Gere have stayed here. Food is wonderful and worthy of trying some of the local cuisine on the menu. Great value for dollar.
